Oakmead Dental Care x TerraCycle Recycling Partnership

Our TerraCycle Partnership

Oakmead Dental Care is delighted to partner with TerraCycle, becoming an official local collection point for used dental hygiene products. This initiative allows us to give back to the environment while helping our local community recycle items that cannot usually go into household recycling.

By working with TerraCycle, we’re helping to reduce landfill waste and support a more sustainable, circular economy, right here in Chislehurst.

What is TerraCycle?

TerraCycle is a global organisation dedicated to recycling items that are traditionally considered non-recyclable. They work with brands, manufacturers and local partners across more than 21 countries to divert waste away from landfill.

Their mission is simple but powerful: to eliminate the idea of waste. Collected items are cleaned, processed and transformed into raw materials, which are then used to create new products such as benches, bins and playground equipment.

How to Recycle Your Used Dental Products

Dental hygiene products are essential for oral health, but many are made from mixed materials that standard recycling facilities can’t process.

That’s why Oakmead Dental Care is now a free local drop-off point for these items. You don’t need to be a patient; everyone in the community is welcome to use our recycling service during opening hours.

Please ensure all items are as clean as possible before dropping them off.

What We Accept

We can accept the following used dental items from any brand:

- Electric toothbrush heads

- Manual toothbrushes (plastic or bamboo)

- Interdental brushes and picks

- Toothpaste tubes (rinsed)

- Dental floss containers and outer packaging (not the floss itself)

- Cardboard and plastic outer packaging from dental products

Please note: We are unable to accept string dental floss, batteries, or electrical components such as the main body of electric toothbrushes.
